Digital Transformation and Cultural Identity in Rural Java: A Sociological Inquiry
Abstract
This study examines the impact of digital transformation on cultural identity in rural Javanese communities. Using ethnographic methodology over 18 months in three villages, we found that smartphone adoption simultaneously preserves and reshapes traditional cultural practices. The findings contribute to debates on globalization, digital divide, and cultural sustainability in Southeast Asia.
